A newly released online database has cataloged nearly 1,000 UFO sightings across the Puglia region of southern Italy, offering one of the most detailed regional UFO mapping efforts to date. The project was released by the Italian Center for UFO Studies (CISU) in collaboration with MUFON Italy, and builds upon earlier research compiled by investigator Lello Cassano.
The database allows users to explore sightings by exact location, date, and surrounding area. Many entries include supporting documentation, possible explanations, and in some cases witness drawings or photographs. The system also connects related reports across the region, helping researchers identify patterns and recurring hotspots.
According to MUFON Italy’s national director Edoardo Russo, the database was officially announced on February 8, 2026, and is intended to serve both researchers and the public. By making these records easily accessible and geographically organized, investigators hope to encourage deeper analysis of long-term UFO activity in the region.
While most sightings remain unexplained, the release of this structured and searchable archive represents a significant step toward transparency and independent investigation of UFO phenomena in Europe.
