Feb 15, 2026 was a good example of how “UAP” can turn into something ordinary once it gets close inspection. According to reporting that includes air traffic control audio and NORAD’s own statement, alert F-16s were scrambled to investigate two objects tracked over northern California and nearby areas. During the second intercept, one of the pilots described what he saw as a balloon with a line hanging down.
NORAD later said both objects showed characteristics consistent with typical weather balloons, posed no military threat, no risk to civil aviation, and had no means of maneuver. This is worth posting here because it shows something important. A real response happened, real aircraft were launched, and it still turned out to be balloons.
